The House of Vellura does not sell products. It prescribes a protocol.

Five formulations — each developed with the others in mind. Each step engineered to prepare the skin for the next. The sequence is not arbitrary. It is the result of formulation decisions made with explicit awareness of what precedes and follows each application.

Most skincare routines are assembled from products designed independently, by different brands, with no reference to what they will be layered with. The Vellura Protocol is the opposite. It is a system. And systems perform differently from collections of individual products.

Why Sequence Matters

The order of application in the Vellura Protocol is determined by biology, not convention.

The Refinement Polish prepares the skin surface — removing the cellular debris and surface irregularities that reduce the depth at which subsequent actives are absorbed. The surface it creates is not merely cleaner. It is more permeable. More receptive. The Renewal Serum's peptide architecture, applied immediately after, reaches a measurably different depth than it would on unprepared skin.

The Renewal Serum's ceramide system, in turn, creates the barrier environment that makes The Longevity Cream's longevity actives more effective. The lipid matrix that ceramides support is also the delivery medium through which PQQ, Nicotinamide Riboside, and encapsulated Resveratrol reach the cellular level where they can act.

Each step earns the next. This is not a marketing claim. It is a formulation rationale.

Step I — Preparation

The Refinement Polish
Use 2–3 times weekly. Morning or evening.

The Refinement Polish is the foundation of the protocol. It is the step that makes everything that follows more effective.

It is also unlike any exfoliator in the conventional luxury category.

Applied to dry skin, it presents as a dense anhydrous lipid balm — rich, enveloping, and entirely unlike the expectation of an exfoliant. The triple exfoliation system within it — dual PHA (Gluconolactone and Lactobionic Acid), Papain enzyme, and Bromelain enzyme — begins working on contact with the skin surface, without water, without friction.

Add water. It transforms.

The balm emulsifies instantly into a luminous milky fluid — lifting from the skin without stripping, without tightness, without the inflammation response that characterises most physical exfoliation. The Jojoba Ester microspheres within the formula provide a simultaneous physical polish as the emulsification occurs, removing surface debris with precision rather than force.

The PHA system is chosen deliberately. Polyhydroxy acids exfoliate at a larger molecular size than AHAs — they do not penetrate as aggressively, making them appropriate for daily use on sensitive or reactive skin. Their gentleness is their mechanism: consistent, low-inflammation surface renewal that does not compromise the barrier.

What The Refinement Polish leaves behind is not simply cleaner skin. It is a surface with measurably greater conductivity — more receptive to the active delivery systems of every subsequent step.

Application: Apply a small amount to dry skin. Massage gently for 60 seconds. Add water and massage again — the balm transforms to milk. Rinse thoroughly. Use 2–3 times weekly, not daily.

Step II — Treatment

The Renewal Serum
Morning and evening, after cleansing or after The Refinement Polish.

 

The Renewal Serum is the VX-8 Complex's peptide delivery system — the step that addresses the signalling architecture of the dermis directly.

Peptides are the biological language of skin maintenance. They signal the production of collagen, regulate the inflammatory response, direct the repair of the extracellular matrix, and communicate structural requirements to the cells that maintain the skin's framework. As peptide signalling weakens with age, the skin progressively loses its ability to maintain itself at the biological level. The visible consequence — loss of firmness, deepening of expression lines, reduced resilience — is the downstream effect of a signalling failure that began years earlier.

The Renewal Serum addresses this through three distinct peptide mechanisms operating simultaneously.

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 at 4.5% operates on the neuromuscular signalling pathway. The mechanism that drives expression line formation is muscular — the repeated contraction of facial muscles creates the grooves that deepen over time. Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 modulates this pathway, reducing the intensity of the muscular contraction signal without any systemic effect.

Matrixyl 3000 — the Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 complex — addresses the extracellular matrix. These signal peptides communicate directly with fibroblasts, the cells responsible for collagen and elastin production in the dermis. Their mechanism is reconstructive rather than inhibitory.

Copper Tripeptide-1 operates on the repair pathway — signalling tissue remodelling and supporting the skin's response to damage. It is one of the most extensively studied signal peptides in dermatological science, with a literature spanning several decades.

The Renewal Serum also contains the complete ceramide complex — Ceramide NP, AP, and EOP with cholesterol and linoleic acid — creating the barrier environment that makes it both effective and tolerable for daily morning and evening use.

Step III — The Hero

The Longevity Cream

The Longevity Cream is the first luxury face cream built on the science of longevity biology. It is the formulation that defines The House of Vellura — the product from which the brand's founding conviction is most directly expressed.

Three longevity molecules sit at its centre.

PQQ — Pyrroloquinoline Quinone — is a mitochondrial biogenesis activator. It signals the creation of new mitochondria within skin cells, addressing the energy decline that precedes visible ageing at its biological source. Mitochondrial function declines measurably from the mid-thirties. PQQ addresses this not by compensating at the surface, but by intervening in the underlying energy infrastructure.

Nicotinamide Riboside, sourced as Niagen® by ChromaDex, supports the NAD+ pathway — the cellular energy currency that drives repair, renewal, and resilience, and which declines by approximately 50% between the ages of 40 and 60. The longevity medicine field has built an entire supplementation category around restoring NAD+ levels systemically. The Longevity Cream applies the same molecule topically, in a formulation designed for dermal delivery.

Encapsulated Resveratrol activates autophagy — the cellular self-cleaning process whose progressive decline longevity biologists now understand as one of the primary drivers of the ageing phenotype. The encapsulation system protects Resveratrol from the oxidation that renders unencapsulated forms inactive, and releases it at the cellular depth where the SIRT1-mTOR pathway mechanism can function.

Supporting these three longevity molecules: Bifida Ferment Filtrate at 4% for microbiome intelligence, Tremella Fuciformis for hydration depth, Pullulan for immediate surface smoothing, and the complete multi-molecular-weight hyaluronate system for hydration at every dermal level.

Step IV — Eye · Morning

The Eye Morning Elixir
Every morning, before SPF.

The periorbital skin at 7am presents a specific set of biological conditions that most eye creams are not designed to address.

During sleep, lymphatic drainage slows. Fluid accumulates in the periorbital tissue — the source of morning puffiness that is vascular in nature, not merely cosmetic. Microcirculation is sluggish. The vascular and pigmentation components of dark circles are at their most visible. The skin needs to be awakened, drained, and brightened — and then layered under SPF and makeup without migration or residue.

The Eye Morning Elixir was formulated specifically for this biological moment.

Dipeptide-2 and Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5 address the lymphatic drainage mechanism — reducing fluid retention at the orbital level through peptide signalling. Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone addresses the vascular component of dark circles — the bluish discolouration caused by blood pooling in the fine capillaries beneath the periorbital skin. Tranexamic Acid at 2% addresses the pigmentation component — the brownish discolouration caused by melanin deposition, common in deeper skin tones and in those with chronic dark circles.

Caffeine provides immediate vasoconstriction — the visible tightening and brightening that occurs within minutes of application — while the longer-acting peptide and brightening mechanisms work beneath.

Step V — Eye · Evening

The Eye Night Repair
Every evening, before The Longevity Cream.

The skin's nocturnal biology creates the conditions for the most effective retinoid application of the day.

During sleep, cell division accelerates. Growth hormone rises. The skin enters its peak repair cycle — and the conditions for retinoid receptor activity are optimal. A retinoid applied in the morning competes with UV exposure, oxidative stress, and the skin's daytime defence mode. Applied in the evening, it works with the biology rather than against it.

The Eye Night Repair uses encapsulated Retinaldehyde — not retinol.

Retinol must convert twice before reaching retinoic acid, the biologically active form of Vitamin A. Retinaldehyde converts once. At equivalent concentrations, Retinaldehyde delivers approximately eleven times the biological activity at the retinoid receptor level. The literature on this conversion differential is well-established in dermatological science.

The challenge has always been the periorbital area. The skin around the eye is the thinnest on the face. Its sensitivity to retinoid-induced irritation is correspondingly higher. Most eye creams avoid retinoids entirely, or use retinol at concentrations too low to act. The Eye Night Repair resolves this through encapsulation.

The encapsulation system releases Retinaldehyde gradually through the night — concentrating its activity at the cellular depth where it functions, not at the surface where irritation begins. The result is nightly retinoid activity in the periorbital area with a tolerance profile that conventional retinol delivery cannot match.

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 at 3% addresses crow's feet through the same neuromuscular signalling mechanism present in The Renewal Serum. The full ceramide complex — NP, AP, and EOP — provides barrier support during retinoid activity, reducing the dryness and sensitivity that retinoids can cause when the barrier is unsupported.
