Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7: the calming peptide
Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 is a signal peptide made of four amino acids (glycine, glutamine, proline and arginine) joined to a fatty acid. It is used in skincare to help skin look calmer, smoother and more even.
What it is
Like other signal peptides, palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 is a short chain of amino acids modelled on fragments the body produces itself. The palmitoyl group helps it settle into the skin's lipid layers.
What the research looks at
Skin that is regularly stressed by sun, pollution and dryness can stay in a low-level state of irritation, which shows over time as redness, dullness and a loss of smoothness. Laboratory studies have looked at palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 for its role in moderating the messengers involved in that irritation. In cosmetic use, it is chosen to help skin look calmer and more even, and to complement firming peptides.
It is classically paired with palmitoyl tripeptide-1: one peptide focused on the look of firmness, one on calm.
Why it is in Vellura
Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 is one of the two recurring peptides at the core of the VX-8™ peptide network. It is dosed in the ranges its suppliers recommend and published studies use.

Questions
Is palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 the same as palmitoyl tetrapeptide-3?
Yes. It is the same peptide under its older name.
Does it work on its own?
It can, but it is most often used alongside palmitoyl tripeptide-1, because the two address different aspects of how skin looks as it ages.
